In 2012, Andrew McDowell stepped into the world of action shooting sports, quickly making a mark by placing 9th out of 76 competitors in a local 3-Gun Event in Richmond, Kentucky. This sparked a passion for competitive shooting, driving him to perfect his skills.

Years later, encouraged by his wife and friends to share his expertise, Andrew transitioned from competitor to instructor, discovering a universal truth: excellence in shooting hinges on mastering the basics.

In 2022, Andrew founded A13Tactics, pioneering modern defensive shooting instruction for self-reliant citizens, faith-based organizations and the security sector. A13Tactics stands as a strategic advisory firm, leveraging global insights to enhance leadership training and operational best practices.
A13Tactics was founded with a mission to empower individuals through comprehensive self-defense training. From our humble beginnings, we've grown into a respected institution known for our hands-on, practical training methods. Our journey has been fueled by a relentless pursuit of excellence and a commitment to our core values of integrity, professionalism, and community service.
THE MEANING BEHIND A13
WHAT IS A13?
We are often asked about the significance and meaning behind the "A13" logo. The origins of "A13" are deeply personal and rooted in a desire for uniqueness and distinction. It all began with Andrew McDowell, the founder of A13Tactics, who sought a way to mark his gear, magazines, and other equipment to ensure they were easily identifiable at the range. With the possibility of others using similar initials, simply marking his items with "AM" wasn't unique enough.

Andrew decided to take a different approach. He chose to represent his initials in a way that would stand out: "A" for Andrew and "13" for the 13th letter of the alphabet, M. This combination, "A13," was not only distinctive but also carried a personal significance that set his gear apart from others.

This simple yet innovative idea quickly became a hallmark of Andrew's identity. The "A13" symbolized more than just ownership; it represented a commitment to being unique and standing out in a field where precision, attention to detail, and individuality are crucial.
